Before BTS takes their first official break, to rest, the internationally renowned K-pop group made one last public appearance at the Lotte Duty Free Family Concert in Seoul, South Korea, on Sunday. Afterward, one member in particular went viral on Twitter because of his latest hairstyle.
“Jungkooks” was the top trending topic in the U.S. Yep, no punctuation necessary for BTS fans to express their admiration for Jungkook’s new long hair.
For context, Jungkook, the youngest member of BTS, often has a bowl-cut-like style. His hair has hardly grown past the tops of his ears since BTS debuted in 2013. But during the past few months, fans noticed the performer has been growing out his signature cut, and we got to see Jungkook’s long hair in all its glory at the Lotte Duty Free Family Concert. Jungkook’s hairstylist parted his hair in the middle and styled it with subtle waves and a wet-look sheen for the night.
Jungkook’s hairstyle solidifies this summer’s long-hair trend among boy group members: SF9’s Hwiyoung kicked things off earlier this year with nearly shoulder-length waves; Yuta of NCT127, Pentagon’s Wooseok, Hyungwon of Monsta X, and Seventeen’s Jeonghan also joined the long hair club. Now, with Jungkook’s endorsement, I have a feeling that list is just going to get longer in the coming months.
Jungkook is no stranger to wowing BTS fans, or ARMY, as they’re officially called. Last year, he showed up with a bright new hair color that I dubbed “dragonfruit red.” Is it too soon to wonder what hairstyle or dye job he’ll bring to the stage in 2020?
